Feeling Especially Screwed Lately

Busy and feeling screwed by Tech, so you get a lazy macro of a screwdriver and a 1/4-20 bolt.

Empty Bike Racks

This a a boring shot of empty bike racks near Howie on Tech Campus. Not much time today to spare; I didn't sleep last night; I've got quite a few tests and quizzes in the next few days and lots of other things to get done.

Enough excuses, I was walking from Howie to the Student Center at 9am and thought the square racks made an interesting geometrical pattern. I was in a rush and only took one shot; if I had the time I would have adjusted down the exposure and reduced the contrast setting. Also should have gotten in closer to the racks. I might retake this shot with late-afternoon light.

Spilt Blood

Camera in custom color set with lotsa saturation. I had to catch a friend's tragedy of spilled breadsticks. I tried to compose it to lead the viewer's eyes from the sauce to the sticks, focusing on the sauce and letting the tiles point towards the bread.

Resumed!

Alright, I got the new camera in my grubby little paws. Here's its first submission:

Really my first real attempt at abstract photography (ignoring my Lensbaby), this was taken in the parking lot of FLIP in Atlanta. Can you tell I've been listening to a lot of Boards of Canada lately? I think it makes a nice desktop.
Camera settings:
Macro mode for focus (or lack thereof), desaturated, high contrast, 11.6mm (77mm Eqiv.)

This was shot in basic JPEG mode, as I was playing with quality differences. I think I'll not shoot in basic mode again.

To Resume Shortly

Well, I somehow lost my point and shoot on my winter break trip to Florida. Really, really embarrassing. Would have been easier just to light up a $100 bill, but oh well.

I want to continue this as well as be able to carry a camera at all times, so I bought another. This time it's the Canon PowerShot SD790IS. I paid $170 on Newegg. I loved the A590IS and its manual controls, and I still think it's the best bang/buck out there, but I realized I had different priorities. The SD790 is less than half the thickness of the A590, and I could barely get the A590 in and out of blue jean pockets.
The 790 is made of metal and has a Li-Ion battery. The lens isn't as wide as the 590, but to get wider I'd have to spend $100 more. Point and shoots are about convenience and portability, and hopefully the 790 will be perfect.

It should arrive Friday. I will begin posting then.

This Project Isn't Abandoned

I haven't given up on this project; I've just been in a holy-crap-Tech's-finals-are-going-to-kill-me-and-everyone-I-know mood.

Updates to resume this Saturday.

This photo walked up and plopped down right in front of me:
